New research show that those possessing higher levels of "mirroring" neurons also display more empathy. For example, when someone eats an apple, the apple eating part of the brain lights up even though no apple eating is happening. The more mirroring that occurs, the more empathetic.
Interesting research, really. Makes me wonder about autistic people. Do they have those mirroring nerves? How about the flaming axxhole two cubicles down? Or, do the jerks among us have more mirroring neurons so have more empathy and intuitively know what will bug the hell out of people?
