Dr. Helen: It's Hard Out There For A Parent

She says:
With the build-up of the nanny state over the past decades, it seems we are all now being treated as children. But for adults it is even worse, all the responsiblity and none of the rights of being a grown-up. How utterly childish.
Amen!

Have a drink in front of the kids and the taboo is removed. It is neither a sin nor a savior, it just is and it can be used for good or bad.

In the south, there is a lot more prohibition against drinking than I was used to growing up in a Catholic neighborhood. I see problems with both extremes--kids sneaking to be bad and kids emulating out-of-control parents to be cool. Moderate drinking is healthy for your body and your family.
