Journalism Ethics II: WV Miners Reporting

Remember two days ago when the discussion arose about what exactly Journalists should do?

Journalists no longer, if they ever did, have the motive to inform. They want to sensationalize in order to sell more papers. They want to be first even if they are wrong.
Now comes the sad story of the West Virginia miners rescue/deaths. After the reporting debacle that was NOLA--rape and murder and pillage oh my!--which mostly turned out to be false or exaggerated, you'd think everyone would slow down a bit before reporting bogus information. You'd think.
