Shoot Mugabe Now

Can we just dispense with the formality of civil society and rid the world of this animal? This is what it means to be the political opposition in Zimbabwe:

The men who pulled up in three white pickup trucks were looking for Patson Chipiro, head of the Zimbabwean opposition party in Mhondoro district. His wife, Dadirai, told them he was in Harare but would be back later in the day, and the men departed.

An hour later they were back. They grabbed Mrs Chipiro and chopped off one of her hands and both her feet. Then they threw her into her hut, locked the door and threw a petrol bomb through the window.
And a four year old niece saw it all. Mrs. Chipiro's husband, when he returned and after trying to put out the fire of his torched homes, went to the police, who falsified a report before rewriting it to say this:
The report said that seven men assaulted Mrs Chipiro “before dragging her in one of the houses and set all three houses on fire”. It said that the body showed “signs of assault since all hands and legs were broken”. The doctor who carried out the post-mortem described the cause of death as haemorrhaging and severe burns. “These youths are taught cruelty,” Mr Chipiro said. “They get used to murdering. They enjoy murdering. They are doing it for money.”
The people in Zimbabwe suffer. They starve. The seized farms no longer produce. Publications like The New Black Magazine ponder a false premise: what would be better now for Zimbabwe--Mugabe or Smith? How about this? Both are bad, and Mugabe is bad, now, and the Zimbabweans today deserve better than either of them.

Most of the world lives under different forms of tyranny. Burma (Myanmar) suffers at the hands of the Junta. 120, 000 people have died there. More will starve. Try doing business in Russia. Or, try having a sense of humor there. Try being free in China or being a neighbor of China. Try speaking your mind in Canada or Great Britain. Try saying offensive words in France.

America is rare in the world. Freedom, and the rule of law it is based upon, is rare and needs to be protected. It is a quick slide into tyranny and misery. Hugo Chavez demonstrates just how quickly a country can be unmade.

I sit here horrified at the oppressors of the world like Mugabe. Limb chopping and being burned alive in 2008.... it boggles the mind. What should America do? We watch and hopefully, learn, what it means to be free. Intervention would serve America's national interest... No it wouldn't. I know. I know. I would still like Mugabe shot. Now.

Magnanimous Mugabe

Burning homes of the opposition to retain the power he lost in the election, Mugabe demonstrates his concern for the common man. That's just what dictators do.

Stuff You Should Know & Chickens

See Chastity. Yes, some people are chaste and live to talk about it.

The internet will be obsolete soon. I thought I'd give you a heads up. The new way of doing things will be a "grid". It sounds so incredibly cool.

Do you think my planned community would have a problem with this? I also want to keep bees. Whaddya think?

Some are questioning climate change theory. You don't say.

The love fest is over. Bill Clinton is in the Democrat's shitter. It's about time. When were these people going to see him for what he is?

Fred Thompson for Veep? I'd like that.

I didn't blog about the Pizza Hut thing last week, but you should know about it.

Zimbabwe is a mess. Robert Mugabe demonstrated what socialist policies do and how quickly they destroy a country. It's going to get worse for these poor people, before it gets better. Venezuela take note. You're next.

Finally, Muslims are leaving Islam and converting to Christianity in droves. Interesting, if true.

President Bush in Africa

The Anchoress covers President Bush's triumphant African trip. She says:

In places where freedom is taken for granted, our president and our troops are not received with joy. But in places where liberty is still longed for and prized, the story is quite different.
That does seem to be the case, doesn't it?

Female Circumcision Causes Girls Death

This disgusting practice boggles the imagination. These statistics are even more alarming:

A 2003 survey by UNICEF said that 97 percent of married women in Egypt have undergone genital mutilation. A recent study by Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population found that only half of all girls between the age of 10-18 years have been circumcised.
Imagine. And don't you guys who equate male circumcision to female genital mutilation start writing weird comments. These two procedures are in no significant way the same.

Al Qaeda Getting Hit in Somalia

This is good news. Austin Bay has more. For those who don't keep up on these things, here is what MSNBC reports:

The Ethiopian military swept into Somalia last month and removed the Islamic government that had reputedly harbored al-Qaida operatives.

The leader of al-Qaida's East Africa cell is named Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, NBC’s Robert Windrem reported.

It is not known if Mohammed, 31, was the target of the attack, but he has been the most targeted al-Qaida operative in Africa for nearly a decade. He is most commonly known as Harun Fazul. He is fluent in English, French, Arabic and Swahili.

Allahpundit reports that th U.S. is sending the USS Eisenhower for possible further strikes.

Here's a map and stats of Somalia, fyi. I wonder if Sudan will be next. Let's root 'em out.

Cap'n Ed reminds us of America's (the Right and Left's) long memory:

The Ethiopians did us a big favor by dislodging the Islamists from Mogadishu. Once on the run, the US could bring all of its technological assets on line to track them, and the Air Force waited long enough for all of them to run into the trap. The Navy positioned the USS Eisenhower in the waters nearby Somalia just in case it finds even more targets to strike.

That hasn't stopped the Ethiopians, either. Their forces have surrounded an al-Qaeda base and may have overrun it by the time you read this post. Between the three forces, including those loyal to the Somalian transitional government, AQ in Africa is about to take a huge blow, perhaps even a fatal defeat.

It may have taken us a long time, but we do not forget. Let's hope that our attack took out these high-value targets and plenty of their followers to boot.

The Leftist perspective is predictable. No thought of justice for those who kill Americans.

Sudan: The Conflict is Almost Over

Sudan: 200,000 dead. 2.5 million displaced. Sudan is a mess and the powers that be are serious this time: stop or else! Once the Christians are dead, the conflict will end. The cause of the conflict is their existence.

Bush spoke to reporters after meeting with Andrew Natsios, the United States' special envoy to Sudan. Bush said Natsios delivered a "grim report about the human condition" in Darfur after a 10-day trip to the area.

"The government of Sudan must understand that we're serious, when you deliver a message to them on behalf of our government, that we're earnest and serious about their necessity to step up and work with the international community," the president said.

The U.N. is such a nice cover for all moral timidity. Does Bush lack the will to put a dog in this fight? Is he afraid of being accused of making a war against Muslims? Or, is he just okay with genocide as long as it's Christians dying?

Honestly, I don't get it. This has to stop.
