Cali Update

You know how our nosey neighbors called the Cops on us because they thought we were starving our dog? Yes, well, I thought you might like a Cali update.

This week, she has had an amazing transformation. No, she hasn't gain back the ten to fifteen pounds she had lost, but she has been up more, alert and more responsive.

If you are an optimist, like me, I'm hoping that she is recovering from some strange disease or cancer or virus or whatever it was that has been plaguing her as the Vet could not determine the exact cause. (Her liver enzymes were crazy off, but inconsistent with cancer, but inconsistent with other diseases, too.)

If you are a pessimist like my husband and mother, she is experiencing "lightening" my husband called it. The state of alertness that precedes death where last words and love can be conveyed.

Anyway, she has seemed so well the last four days or so. It's really weird.

Oh, and another thing, just to try something new, I changed her dog food late last week. Could it be that my dog was allergic to some weird additive in a dog food? Wouldn't it be horrible if a dog food was poisoning her somehow? My husband did change her dogfood around a year ago when the food she normally ate no longer was carried. She disliked the new food, but I just thought it was a matter of getting used to it. She has steadily been losing weight ever since. But we moved--could it be the stress? We kept her in our garage for a while because our new yard wasn't fenced. We thought that maybe her feelings were hurt, but she was going down hill before that. My brother hadn't visited in a while and Cali started off being his dog, could she be angry with him?

Oy, dogs are like babies. When they suffer they can't talk.

Anyway, Cali had a great week. I hope that means we have more time with her. I love her so!
