Cell Phones Can Crash Planes

If you've seen the movie Soul Plane, one of the memorable scenes is when a character (not too memorable as I can't remember who, now) yacks on the cell phone mid-flight and the plane takes a nosedive. Does it really work that way, or is restricting cell phone use one more way the Airline industry tortures it's consumers?

According to this, cell-phones cause more problems on the plane that previously believed. So I guess I should be better about remembering to turn it off on the plane. Ooops!
