Infant Mortality: The Stick Socialists Use to Bash the U.S.

The U.S. ranks low in Infant Mortality. The stats have always seemed suspect to me considering places like Cuba (look at these pictures here to get an idea of their "advanced" system) and Russia (the adopted children I see from this country almost all have physical/emotional problems--the good health care system is to thank for that, no doubt) came out better. However, the standards of care in the U.S. while technologically advanced, seem counter-productive to the natural act of birthing. They often cause interventions and therefore, side effects, that harm the mother and baby.

That said, a good analysis of the stats here and some more thoughts here.

It's interesting that the U.S. ranks #1 in birthrate for Western countries. What will the Socialist countries do with no one to pay taxes to keep the old people cared for in the mediocre way they've become accustomed to?
