Fans

I remember living in California and seeing Kevin Costner, before he was big-time, celebrating his daughter's birthday at Rosie's Diner, the place we hung out during college. Southern California is weird that way, you see famous people. On my MySpace account, I have linked to a couple of actors who were in Firefly, my favorite TV show that never ended up being. Am I a fan? Well, yes, I guess.

But mostly, I'm interested in these people for their creativity and daring. I'd be equally interested in having dinner with Ann Althouse or MaxedOutMama. These are people who are accomplished and smart and funny. Would having their autograph jazz me? Not really.

There are all sorts of interesting, accomplished, creative people. That's what makes me a fan, but I've never been able to drum up the enthusiasm to overcome my embarrassment at interrupting someone's life just to meet them. It's weird. It must be weird for them, too.

I have never, never understood the autograph thing. I'm relieved that you don't get it either.

I emailed you on the off chance that you can help me with a chiropractor search for one of my brothers.

Also, please pray for Jay and Cheryl. Jay is a good friend of another of my brothers. Jay and Cheryl have a young child (they are married!). Jay is a young man. He had a massive heart attack in Orlando and is on life support with liver and kidney malfunction.
