Writers Strike Threatened In Hollywood

If a writer stops writing and no one cares.... It seems to me that this is one profession that should be circumspect about their jobs. There are lots of other writers out there. Hint. Hint.

The media has been covering this story like the strike will bring on the apocalypse. Look at the New York Time's coverage:

Hollywood’s two decades of labor peace shattered Thursday night, as movie and television writers declared they would embark on an industrywide strike for the first time since 1988, when both writers and Teamsters walked out.
Shattered! Declared! It's almost like the air traffic controllers striking or something. Not.

Time for BRITTNEY! Or LINDSAY! Or PARIS! to act up and get arrested again! Don't they know The Writers' Strike is taking away THEIR Headlines?

I heard about this today on NPR. They seemed to think it was pretty newsworthy. I thought, "Who cares?" If this causes a major blip in our country, then we are more pathetic than I already thought we were (the 'we' being the news/entertainment industry).

When I think Hollywood writers, I think big-wigs. However, I just heard about a woman I know whose ex-husband works in the industry and her child-support may be compromised because of the strike. I forgot about all the 'little' people that may also suffer. So now I don't have a completely 'Who cares?' attitude, but I don't believe it's on par with the looming mortgage crisis.
