Syracuse Beats U-Conn

For those who follow Big-East basketball, all two of you (and my husband doesn't count), you'll notice that venerable U-Conn got knocked out by the perennially underachieving Syracuse Orangemen. What is an Orange Man anyway? Their mascot is a big orange. It's pretty funny and not at all scary or intimidating.

Anyway, if you know a man with the last name Clouthier, give him a pat on the back. They have endured Jim Boeheim's easy breezy coaching methods--discipline is not a Syracuse strength. They have endured the roller-coaster ride seasons (the humiliating losses with spectacular talent). They follow recruiting and strategy and salivate over local talent who might sign with Syracuse! In short, they are loyal die-hard fans.

Mr. Dr.'s Dad, seems to love underdogs. His other favorite teams are the Detroit Lions (alas, I too love this sad-sack team) and Cleveland Indians. His teams have delivered more trials than triumph over the years.

Syracuse provides a source of great fun for me--perpetual ribbing. Whereas, as a Michigander (former), each year I have plenty of team choices at the college level, usually--Michigan, Michigan State, even Central Michigan puts forth a good team every now and again. State schools all, too.
