Great (Lakes) Mess

As most of you know, I grew up in Michigan. A couple girlfriends who lived in Algonac, Michigan and grew up on the water coming off of Lake Huron ended up having children with holes in their hearts that doctors say were a direct result of the poisonous waters they swam in as kids. As it turns out, Canada isn't doing as much as the United States to clean up the sludge-filled lakes.

It's a crying shame the lakes are such a mess. There is no better swimming than in Lake Michigan in the summer. Imagine the ocean, now imagine it without the salty stickiness. That's the joy of the Great Lakes.

That joy will evaporate as the polluted waters make it impossible to swim or fish there. It all needs to be cleaned up.
