Everybody Loves A Winner

Should things continue to go well in Iraq, it will be difficult to find a person who was ever against the war--except those on the extreme left. When The New York Time's recent poll showed an upswing in support for our mission in Iraq, they re-polled. It couldn't possibly be true!

An, but it is, and will continue to "upswing". There have been a solid 1/3 of the country who has not given up and never saw the effort as futile. The meandering middle will move like sheep into the "I always knew it was going to work" crowd--after it works. Then there will be a solid, hardened kernel of rage emanating from the left. Thwarted at thwarting again. Worse, even other countries are getting friendlier to the U.S. Narratives will fall like dominoes. Despair everywhere--for the left invested in America's defeat.

As for everyone else? Well, everybody loves a winner.

Except if that winner is George Bush. He will never, ever get credit for what he has done for this country.

Btw, I spoke to a man I really respect who has some military connections. He was against the war in Iraq from the start. He always believed it was too risky and he always predicted a drastic failure. He told me about ten days ago that for the first time, he believed we really could win it, and that he thought no sane person could avoid supporting Bush at this point. He also had some very harsh words for the Democrats. He now believes that they see a potential victory in the offing and are desperately working to prevent it. He called the Pelosi crew traitors.

Mama,

That's heartening news. Hopefully the fearful Americans will be won over with success forcing the Democrats ruled by opinion polls to act better (although they currently are trying to tie the military in knots about intelligence).

As for Bush's legacy....not that he cares, but I do believe history will vindicate his clarity of purpose about fighting Islamic terrorism. A lesser man would have crumbled by now, but with the intelligence passing his desk every day, I bet the terrorists make his job a little easier. The press and left never will.
