Abortion Reduction Nil With Parental Notification Laws

Some might be surprised by this, but I'm not. Girls who desire abortions often fear the public shame, the inconvience of a birth with school or other goals, and just have trouble imagining and then dealing with the consequences of any action--not just sex. Where pray-tell do these young women learn their decision-making skills? That's right, their parents.

A fair number of young girls are pressured by their parents to receive an abortion. The parents fear the social reprucsions (in the neighborhood I live in it is extremely bad, this way) with their church members, their business co-workers, with their friends. A pregnant daughter reveals that their teenager is having sex. It also reveals in many parents minds anyway, their short-comings as a parent. This is true in some cases and not true in others. Either way though, the parents pressure their daughter for their own reasons, selfish reasons, as much as for the future of their daughter.

This excludes the incest--parents want to cover their tracks-- and other nefarious reasons to abort their grandchild.
