Testicles Good For Stem Cells

Lots of Testicle, Sperm and general Y-chromosome talk this week eh? What with increasing sperm count, enhancing fertility and The Prez's excess manliness....

This stem cell research looks promising. More possibilities that don't include creating and then killing embryos to save some one's life.

German Media: Where is Darfur?

The German media is being taken to task in Atlantic Review for conveniently ignoring/forgetting/covering ears and eyes about Darfur.

Yale Keeps Afghan Women Out Lets Taliban In

Via Instapundit, in The Wall Street Journal, an editorial about the generous colleges helping women from Afghanistan and Pakistan who had to learn and secret and now want to go to college. Yale turned the program down but welcomed, sought after even, a former Taliban spokesman.

Smoking Causes Impotence

Remember how I said that if you want better sperm quit smoking? Well this research shows that smoking increases erectile problems. Can't keep it up, can't create, now can you?

Sick Building Syndrome Bull But Bad Bosses Bad News

Remember when Sick Building Syndrome was all the rage? Turns out the reason you're sick is 'cuz you're "sick of your boss". Yup, it's psychosomatic! Lot's of research links bad bosses with bad health. Here's more.

Fluoride Bad For Teeth

Fluorine is too high in your water. It causes problems. In high enough levels it can kill you.

Chiropractors are often the recipients of collective eye-rolls for their counter-conventional wisdom. We preached against HRT when it was all the rage. Currently, we are fighting the good fight against Statins which are probably the worst class of drugs to come down the pipeline for horrendous side-effects. SSRIs and other psycho-tropics are a close second (Prozac, you'll be happy to note has Fluoride as its main ingredient).

Then there are the sacred cows that we defy--immunizations and flu shots for example. Recommending against these "obviously good for you things" (I could dispute this but won't) makes us wack-jobs to some in the Medical World.

And then there are Super Sacred Cows like Fluorine in water. When a rational, scientific mind looks at all the research, fluoridation is perhaps one of the biggest examples of stupid group think to hit modern civilization. But that doesn't stop the government from mandating fluoridation. Oh no. Nevermind that fluorine was used, quite effectively, to subdue inmates in prisons (the Nazis used it first, isn't that great?). High levels make one dull and passive. Nevermind that fluorine is a halogen, very unstable and toxic at even minute doses and there is enough fluoride in a tube of toothpaste to kill a 25 pound child. Nevermind that fluoride renders sperm and therefore men impotent. It causes hip fractures in women. It prematurely ages people. It's associated with Parkinsons.

If you can afford it, get a filter for your house to get rid of fluorine. Use plain old baking soda to brush your teeth. And NEVER USE FLUORIDE products with children. They get way more than they need in water and other drinks. It is bad.

ABC News Answers Concerns About Iraq Bias

Whilst reading the info about Bin Laden and Saddam communicating and WMDS and other fun terrorist stuff, this post at ABC caught my attention. It seems that ABC News decided to ask the source (the watching public) if they believed President Bush's assertion that the Western media was being used by terrorists as a propaganda arm was true. The MSM is, of course, closing ranks. Their professionalism is offended.

The viewers respond to ABC:

"I ask you this from the bottom of my heart, for a solution to this, because it seems that our major media networks don't want to portray the good," a woman from West Virginia asked President Bush at a recent town hall.

Teena from Wisconsin agreed.

"If we have the capabilities of the media and we can see the blood, bombs, killing and horror, shouldn't we also see the teaching, cleanup, building, training of soldiers … and the many other great things I know our soldiers are doing for us?" she wrote.

Many of the postings expressed a desire to get a better sense of the reconstruction effort, and the improvements in daily life for Iraqis.

"I think you should cover how many women are now allowed to work, how many kids are now enrolled in school and excelling," wrote Renee from Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, N.M.

Mary Mutschler's son is in the Navy. She wrote from Oregon: "We need to hear about deaths, and what's going on as far as that's concerned. But we need to hear what's going good also."

Good luck to ABC on presenting a more balanced picture. If they choose to do it, as galling as it will be for a network who clearly believes that the War is Wrong, their ratings will go up and the notion that they are at least attempting a fair perspective will be bolstered.

When the media so clearly desires to portray one side, people automatically pull the other direction. If they present a more rounded picture, people will have the information to make a decision, and who knows maybe the Anti-War movement will grow which is just what they hope for anyway.

Bin Laden and Saddam Busom Bodies

No way! ABC reports a link via relaeased documentation from the State Department that Saddam knew of and gave "operational help" to Bin Laden. I don't believe it. I won't believe it until I hear the taped conversation between these two very peace-loving friends plotting to bomb the Twin Towers. There is no way that two sworn enemies would ever, ever, ever, ever work together to help each other out. No way.

Choice

One of the most life-changing decisions is to
acknowledge the power to make decisions.

Most people bumble through life because they have to do this, because they're obligated to do that, because so and so will be mad if this happens. Going to work is a chore to be accomplished not a choice to embrace. Some say, "I hate my job!" Every day, though, that person chooses to get out of bed and go to work as if some ghost holds a gun to his temple forcing him to earn his living.

What is so scary about admitting free will/choice? Well, if one action is being taken by choice that means another action could be chosen too.

In our culture, it is very popular to be a victim. In fact, victims get lots of press as do the predators who victimize them. It is as if all people fall neatly into these two categories.

But that view is far from the truth. The vast majority of people make courageous and cowardly choices depending on their strengths and weaknesses. This lands them somewhere on the good-bad spectrum which results in the "nobody's perfect" scale.

And while nobody IS perfect, everyone can choose and choose again and choose differently. Another way to say it: Everyone is Response-Able or Everyone is Able to Respond.

When you get to the end of the day, do you feel tired, worn out and miserable? Another day wasted fufilling obligations and nothing I wanted to do? Have you considered that everything you did that day was what you wanted to do otherwise you would have done something different?

Taking ownership of your Free Will and Power to Choose will liberate you in ways you never imagined. You are in charge! You are in control! You can make it different!

Don't do what you've always done, just 'cuz you always did. At least look at what you've always done and decide consciously: is this what I want to do? Or do I want to choose differently?

One of my favorite scriptures says, "I set before you life and death. Choose you, therefore, life."

Today instead of running from decision or wallowing in indecision or regretting a past decision or hiding behind someone else's decision or pretending like you're not making a decision, why not embrace your choices?

Choose. You have more power than you ever imagined. Maybe that's what scares you.

Yale Drones

Michelle Malkin has more on the Yale Shame. She highlights John Fund's research and some other interesting blogs and asks if the New York Times will cover the "storm". I've already said my piece here and here. There is just no positive way to spin this. The guy belongs in Guantanamo Bay or tried ala Saddam Hussein. The Yale President won't return calls, hmmm? Why not? He must be very proud of his decision that he stole such a prize from Harvard (who got the other really, really cool terrorist--and who is THAT, by the way) that he wants to sing from the rooftops about his incisive judgement.

Abortion Rights For Men: Part III The Financial Abortion

This essay about the Obligation of Unwanted Fatherhood by Jeff Jacoby of the Boston Globe is beyond excellent in describing why the Financial Abortion is not only morally repugnant but a symptom of our sad-sack times.

Conservatives Are Whiny Babies, Ooops! Whiny When Babies

Bush was a happy baby. Maybe that explains his spending like a liberal!

And Liberals are whiny, blamey, fussy-pants as adults. Dr. Dean's primal scream is illustrative here. And Gore's wild-man rants. The examples just keep coming to me but I'll stop.

Read more at Michelle Malkin.

Read a spoof at IMAO (In My Arrogant Opinion for all you Internet-challenged).

Read analysis by Jonah Goldberg.

Dr. Helen says its just more politicization of psychology.

Chris Christner has some interesting statistical correlations you might want to learn about.

When I first heard about this research, I just laughed. So a Berkley professor scrounged up some kids who started out whiny and ended up being conservative? Finding conservative Berkleyites is quite a feat in itself and he should be commended.

My question about the "conservatives" is 1) where are they living--a Texas conservative and a oh, let's see, a Northern California conservative are hardly the same beast 2) do the professors define the person conservative or do the people describe themselves as conservative 3) what is the definition of conservative and how do they define seeing things in "black and white" 4) are their parents conservative 5) how did they vote Republican/Democratic?

I have lots more questions because the study is so durn INANE! Do you see scholarly conservatives (Liberals would smugly point out that finding a scholarly conservative is an oxymoron) trying to diagnose Liberals as psychopaths, I mean they start out as know-it-all bullies who believe in the redistribution of wealth--i.e. give me your lunch money squirt!

Just like trying to understand President Bush's policies and framing them by gender politics, psychologists who try to understand anyone who doesn't think like them in terms of psychopathology is just, and here comes a big psychological term, narcisissitic with a touch of schizoid. I don't think a Berkley Professor has experienced American reality if he has been on that campus for any length of time, which is just how he likes it, no doubt.

Sperm Count and Pollution, Increase Sperm Count Naturally

Pollution is bad for sperm. Tight pants and tight undies, bicycle riding, hot-tubs and environmental estrogens all kill sperm, too.

Want good sperm and lots (over 40 million of them per shot) of them?

Take Vitamins C and E, minerals Zinc, Selenium, and the amino acid arginine, drink lots of water, eat your veggies, wear loose pants, avoid crotch trauma (wear a cup) when sporting, pick another sport besides biking (good for the knees, bad for the nads) and live healthy generally.

Eat good fats like Olive Oil and butter, since good fat is needed to make testosterone and testosterone is needed for sperm production. Do you have man-boobs and a gut that makes you look pregnant? Both indicate high estrogen, fellas. Estrogen opposes testosterone. Get off yur arse and exercise, which in itself increases testosterone (using the remote and waddling to the bathroom to pee after a few beers does not count as exercise).

AVOID soy products. Avoid bleaches and other chemical cleaning agents. (That does not mean that a woman should touch them. They are worse for her.) Use natural cleaning products. Do not heat food in plastics (the melted plastic releases synthetic estrogens and other nastiness into food). Don't drink booze like a fish. Kills sperm. Also kills your liver, kidneys, and blood vessels everywhere. A little red wine is fine, good even but does dialate blood vessels and can interfere with performance so it's a fine line. Quit smoking. Kills sperm and the ones that do swim are pathetic little fellas. At least give 'em a fighting chance.

Remember macho men: you're responsible for 50% (a bit over actually) of all infertility experienced by couples. Do your part, if you want to carry on the name. Or not. Your inability to procreate might be a Darwinian gift to us all.

UN Security Council: Worthless On Iran

An editorial in the LA Times talks about the UN Security Council's irrelavence since it was created after WWII. For those waiting for China and Russia to work with France, Britain and the U.S. on a joint resolution, they better be ready to wait, 'cuz it ain't happenin. And, even if it does, Russia and China have little interest in holding Iran's feet to the fire. This is what the Left in the U.S. is counting on because they view any action as illegal.

Certainly no one, including those in leadership positions around WWII wanted to see the evil brewing in Germany. Is anyone thrilled that Iran is strutting around like a peacock threatening everyone? Can anyone afford to take Iran not seriously with China and Russia petting and using her to prick the West? Certainly Iran, and other crazy regimes, must be taken seriously if only because we have nothing to go on but their words.

Right now, Russia and China are building their friendship while the estrangement with the West subtly grows. Russia seeks to turn the former Soviet republics toward her again. China would be happy to have an aggressive Iran. Iran's craziness suits the communist and former communist regimes nicely. (Look at the Map.)

Somehow, I don't see this all ending well.

Afghani Will Not Be Tried and Executed

Well the Christian Afghani dude lives for another day. It is dismaying that a country who was saved by people who believe in religious freedom and fought for them to have it (as opposed to the oppression of the Taliban who believe in their Islamic way or no way at all) would turn around and try a man who decides to believe differently. They don't or won't GET it. This is not about "Cultural Imperialism" this is about civilization and human rights.
