Make It An Explosive 4th of July

I'm here to help you, and naturally, if possible. Trouble with erectile dysfunction? Want to be a machine between the sheets? Well, eat yer watermelon menfolk, the effects are similar, if more general than Viagra-type drugs:

Watermelons contain an ingredient called citrulline that can trigger production of a compound that helps relax the body's blood vessels, similar to what happens when a man takes Viagra, said scientists in Texas, one of the nation's top producers of the seedless variety.

Found in the flesh and rind of watermelons, citrulline reacts with the body's enzymes when consumed in large quantities and is changed into arginine, an amino acid that benefits the heart and the circulatory and immune systems.

"Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it," said Bhimu Patil, a researcher and director of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center. "Watermelon may not be as organ-specific as Viagra, but it's a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side effects."
On the downside, watermelon has one of the highest glycemic indices of any fruit. It's right up there with a can of Coke or a bagel, for that matter. That is, eating a ton of it rockets your blood sugar up quickly. But then, that could be a good thing, too. You'll get a sugar rush which translates into easy energy for that exercise you'll be getting.

Big Breakfast, Lose Weight

Makes sense. The key my furry friends is good fat (a little) and protein. It fills you up and gives you long term energy. So, slow down and have some eggs for breakfast. You'll feel better all day and eat less too.

Testosterone Supplementation To Stay Young Feeling and Healthy

Testosterone does good things for a body, both male and female. It increases bone density, muscle mass, mental acuity, increases metabolism, enhances libido and according to this research, fights against metabolic syndrome in older men. So researchers are encouraging older men to supplement with testosterone.

Futurepundit (via Instapundit)worries about the evolutionary implications of declining testosterone in older men and that it might be a protective adaptation against diseases like cancer (since hormones, especially testosterone and estrogen can be tumor growth factors). Maybe.

Testosterone, for men, is the defining, healthy hormone just as progesterone, is the defining, healthy hormone for women. For both men and women the ratio of testosterone:estrogen and the ratio of progesterone:estrogen changes as they age. In both cases, estrogen increases proportionally. Part of it is age. Part of it is diet. Part of it is environmental. Estrogens are everywhere in the environment--from plastics to soy. Fat stores and releases estrogen. Estrogen, in and of itself, isn't bad, but it can be problematic when it's in the wrong proportion to testosterone and progesterone.

So, men can supplement with testosterone and women can supplement with progesterone and testosterone, too, for that matter, and this will happen: the body will down-regulate. That is, the body will stop producing as much testosterone and progesterone in response to the supplementation. This happens with all hormones which is why, once a person is on Synthroid, (synthetic thyroid hormone) he or she is on it for life. The body will stop producing it.

Now, there are vegetable-based hormone replacements that are less manipulative of the system and they can give the body a rest to recover, but the ideal is to produce these hormones oneself without the aid of supplementation. The answer to hormone balance is simple, but no one wants to do it because it's certainly not as easy as a supplement:

  1. Lose the fat. Fat produces the estrogens. Lose the fat, the hormone ratio gets better.
  2. Build muscle. Especially lower body muscle. Muscle growth produces testosterone.
  3. Eat right. You know what that means. Everyone knows what that means. Lean protein. Eggs. Veggies. Good fats like butter and olive oil and flax. Skip fast food. Skip soda. Skip fried food. Drink alcohol moderately. Drink coffee moderately. Eat chocolate moderately.
  4. Keep moving. It's not just the muscle, it's the metabolic rate. Aerobic exercise burns off the stress hormones that cause you to accumulate fat in the first place (which stores estrogen). So work up a sweat a couple days a week.
  5. Get some sun. Without Vitamin D, all sorts of bad things happen. Increased bone density helps a person carry more muscle mass which helps increase the metabolic rate. See how these things work together?
Unfortunately, as people age, they become more sedentary which itself creates risk factors for Metabolic Syndrome. I have read articles by doctors who have been on long-term supplementary testosterone themselves, and they seem perfectly healthy. I have had patients (women actually) who have supplemented, short term with testosterone, for weight loss. The usage is going up. People are making experiments of themselves.

I suspect that it will be agreed that testosterone has salubrious effects for men and women short term, but like supplementary estrogen, the long-term effects won't become apparent until after years of use. Manipulating mother nature usually has a downside even if it's not immediately apparent.

What would I recommend to my patients? Well, short term use could be beneficial, but long term, the advice would be the same old boring stuff: lose weight, get fit and eat right.

Antipsychotics Up Death In Those With Dementia

Antipsychotics should be given to psychotic and schizophrenic people. Period:

Antipsychotic drugs aren't specifically approved to treat dementia. They're mainly used to treat patients with schizophrenia. But people with dementia sometimes suffer delusions or hallucinations and may exhibit violent behavior. Doctors may prescribe antipsychotics to control these behaviors.

Pro-Life Pharmacies

It might be legal, but is it right? In answering the question for themselves, some pharmacists have refused to fill prescriptions of birth control pills or morning after pills. I am really torn about this whole thing, actually. While I'm all for people not violating their consciences, I just think there are better ways to deal with this than refusing service. For a pharmacist who doesn't want to fill a morning after pill prescription, why can't he just have his co-worker do it? Why the need to lecture the woman?

This whole issue brings to mind the Muslim taxi drivers refusing to pick up someone who has been drinking, is drinking, or carrying alcohol or others not taking seeing eye dogs. It's legal. If they don't like to pick up all people, even those they disagree with, pick another freaking profession. My sentiments go the same direction about persnickity pharmacists.

However, it seems to me that an Ob/Gyn is well within his or her rights to refuse to perform an abortion. In fact, few people get the specialized training for them, so forcing a doctor to do this procedure could, in fact, be harmful to the woman wanting one.

The free market has a solution--pro-life pharmacies:

When DMC Pharmacy opens this summer on Route 50 in Chantilly, the shelves will be stocked with allergy remedies, pain relievers, antiseptic ointments and almost everything else sold in any drugstore. But anyone who wants condoms, birth control pills or the Plan B emergency contraceptive will be turned away.

That's because the drugstore, located in a typical shopping plaza featuring a Ruby Tuesday, a Papa John's and a Kmart, will be a "pro-life pharmacy" -- meaning, among other things, that it will eschew all contraceptives.

So, pharmacists who work here can work with a free conscience. Hmmmm..... I seem to remember Catholic hospitals being forced to dispense certain drugs and perform certain procedures, including abortions. In fact, a Catholic hospital in Colorado was sued by a "transgender" woman for not allowing the surgery and the hospital eventually relented. That just happened in March. This seems to violate the separation of church and state, but then, the hospital isn't a church, per se. It's a charity.

A pharmacy is a private business so they can do whatever they want, right? Substitute people seeking birth control drugs, for say, HIV drugs. Say the pharmacy decides to not sell cholesterol lowering drugs because fat people aren't "honoring the temple". Really, many medications are needed because of some stupid lifestyle choice. Stopping at the sexual vices seems rather limiting.

What do you think?

Pharmacies should be able to withhold medication they find objectionable:

A Story Of Preemies

I thought I'd share this story with you guys. Eleven years ago this week, my premature twin boys were born. They were born at 24 weeks gestation. My surviving son is a testament to the miracles of modern technology and to miracles, period. I am thankful to God and I'm thankful to the doctors who take up this noble profession.

Cell Phone Addiction In Children

So, this conversation happened at the dinner table a few days ago:

Daughter 8: Mom, I want a cell phone.

Me: No

Daughter: Everyone has a cell phone! [Head collapses into arms, dramatic weeping.]

Me: [Laughing] No, you are not crying about not having a cell phone. Who? Who has a cellphone?

Daughter: Lots of people.

Me: Who? And how old are they?

Daughter: [Face squirreled up, more tears] You're mean!

Me: You have no idea how mean. Just wait!

I might have peeved tween but at least I don't have an addicted adolescent. What. In. The. Hell?

They were brought in after spending an average of six hours a day on their phones, talking, texting or playing games.

Their parents became concerned that the children, aged 12 and 13, were unable to carry out normal activities without their handsets. They were failing at school and deceiving relatives in an attempt to obtain more money for phone cards.
This makes me think of that Star Trek episode where everyone got addicted to that alternative reality game. Yes, I'm that big of a nerd.

Really, I think parents should just give up and give in....it's all over. Why even try to fight it?

More Vegan Stupidity

Children need protein. Children need minerals. Children need fat. Children need the nutrition in fat and protein. Parents who feed their babies vegan diets are worse than ignorant, they're abusive.

Van Helsing at Moonbattery notes the latest example, of, well, moonbattery:

The youngster, fed on a strict meat- and dairy-free diet from birth, is being treated at the city’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children. She is said to have a severe form of rickets and to have suffered a number of fractured bones. The condition is caused by a lack of vitamin D, which is needed to absorb calcium and is found in liver, oily fish and dairy produce.

Dr Faisal Ahmed, the consultant treating the child, said he believed the dangers of forcing children to follow a strict vegan diet needed to be highlighted. “Something like this needs publicity,” he said. However, he refused to blame the parents, who are understood to be well-known figures in Glasgow’s vegan community: “We shouldn’t name and shame \. Mum feels guilty about the whole thing and feels bad about it.”

Aw, mum feels guilty. Does she? Guilty enough to give up her religion? A lifetime of proper nutrition for her daughter will not compensate for her daughter's health today. Because of her long-term Vitamin D deficiency, her daughter is at risk for:
  • Colon cancer
  • Impaired neurological and cognitive development
  • Osteoporosis (duh)
  • Anemia
  • Breast cancer
  • Heart disease (?), new research
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Crohns disease
  • Hypertension
The list goes on and on. And no amount of health building now will make it right for this girl as she grows into womanhood. Her mom feels guilty? Her daughter may never be able to have children. She wasn't just being stupid about her own health, but the health of her daughter's. I think she should feel guilty from behind bars.

Casualties of the Sexual Revolution: 1/5 People Have Herpes

Over 1/4 adults in New York City have herpes. Now, I have a serious question to ask everyone: Do you feel that the removal of restrictions on sexual mores since feminism and The Pill liberated women, has been worth the trade off of STD rates and abortion (check out this chart since Roe v. Wade)? (Never mind mental health issues.)

Before answering too quickly, I'm figuring you're an average male or female. In which case, you've had approximately 8 partners for men, a little less for women (and the men report more partners because they go to prostitutes--hi Eliot). Give or take..... Do you regret your couplings? Would you rather not have had sex with these people? And would your opinion change if you ended up with a permanent scourge like herpes or like Obama said, a baby?

It seems to me that one of the reasons we're getting more moderate Republican leaders is because many Americans, while conservative in their ideals, are more liberal in their actions. That's why I believe abortion will be legal for a long time in most states even should Roe be overturned and why STDs will continue to plague people. People profess to believe in chastity before marriage, even conservative Christians, but few actually believe it enough to practice it.

Airline Fat Fees

Watch out obese, corpulent, fatties, your airplane tickets are going to be more expensive. Yes, everyone is going to be paying more, but fat people, they are going be paying bigger prices to go with their bigger bodies. Well, this all might happen. Or, people might be weighed with their luggage and pay a collective price.

As if the whole process of boarding a stinky, germ-infested airborne cattle car isn't degrading enough, you'll be weighed like, well, a cow. And if you're fat, like a fat cow. Now here is what I'm picturing: You schlep to the airport two hours early, you drag your luggage, you go to check in with the irritated masses, you finally get to the check-in counter. The attendant sizes your rotund body up, sizes your bulging luggage up and says: Miss, please get your lard ass on the scale with your luggage. That will be $75 extra--$2 for every extra pound over the limit.

After that humiliation, you take your paunchy rear to the security line. Barely making eye-contact, the security officer with the GED and surly attitude thinks you're shady and says, "Miss, please stand your blond haired, blue-eyed body in front of the scanner, we are going to look at your person and check for parts of bomb-making material and we'd really like to X-ray you. Stand right here. Thank you. Hey Squid, come take a look at these....ju..., I mean bottles." After being searched, partially disrobed and man-handled, you'll be free to get on the plane where you will be wedged into your narrow middle seat in complete physical and psychological pain.

What's your opinion?

Should airlines charge by passenger weight?
Yes
Yes, but only if luggage is weighed with them

A Pox On My House

I don't know what this bug is, but it isn't friendly. I'll be back at this later. Right now, I have to tend to a screaming, feverish, miserable toddler between shivering and running to the bathroom myself.

Yeah, I know, I look back on these times and laugh some day.

Women and Farting

Over at FoxNews there's a very funny article titled "15 Reasons Why She's Not In The Mood". Here's #2:

She's feels gassy.

That's right. Women toot too. And whether she sounds like a trumpet or is being held hostage by a battle of bad gas, she's feeling like a walking fart pillow. Even when she wants your touch, if her cherry bomb self feels more like a bloated whale than babe, nobody is seeing any action. This is definitely one of those proceed-at-your-own-risk situations.

Women and gas. It's an unmentionable. And yet, and I know this is shocking, women fart. Most women, though, would prefer that you didn't know this.

I'll use me as an example as embarrassing as this will be. When I was pregnant with the twins, after a night hanging out with our best friends, I bent over to tie my shoes and accidentally tooted. It was audible. The room was silent. Everyone heard it and reflexively turned my direction. It was like time slowed down. My friend Jay crashed in with conversation like nothing had happened, but it had happened and there was no turning back and if it hadn't been me, I would have been laughing and they probably did as soon as I left the house. Now, I know for a fact that had one of the guys farted either silently or audibly, everyone would have been howling in protest and laughter both and he wouldn't be embarrassed at all.

Would being gassy stop a man from sex? Um, I don't think so. Would the fear of being squished, lest a fart escape interfere with a man's sex drive? I can't imagine it. It does with women. And face it men, you don't really like your woman farting, either. It isn't ladylike.

The biological differences start early: my baby daughter burst into tears at two weeks old when she heard her father burp for the first time. My baby son, at about 8 months, bugged out his eyes in surprise and then laughed uproariously the first time he connected his farting with his body. At three, he already tries to burp as many times in a row as possible--cheered on by his older siblings, of course.

I guess we aren't really equal, after all. We will know women have equal status when they can fart with impunity. Or maybe, women will be equal when men are just as embarrassed about farting as women are. Gender unfairness marches on.*

Rotten kid?

Get the rotten kid's blood checked for lead levels. I'm serious. I wonder how effective chelation therapy is for this problem and if there are any long-term studies correlating reduced violent crime and lead removal. One thing that can be done at home is to give the lead something to compete with (this is called competitive inhibition)--for example calcium or iron. (Many lead poisoned kids are deficient in iron.)

I do know that William Walsh, PhD. has made his life's work biochemical imbalances and his studies have included the prison population. He also works with schizophrenics and autistic children.

Stuff You Should Know

What does Obama really believe? If you listen, he'll tell you.

And so will Michelle. Ugh. The woman needs to pipe down if she doesn't want criticism for saying stupid things.

I don't know what to think about this research that says cellphone use by pregnant women causes attention problems in the offspring, but it seems that cell phones might be more troublesome than we know. And here's the weird thing: when my iPhone is anywhere near the subwoofer, the subwoofer vibrates when I get a phone call or text or email. In fact, if the phone is near the radio, the radio goes static until it turns off again. They produce a huge EMF for being so small. At the rate people use phones now, the next generation will all be mentally retarded.

Want to see the droopiest ta-ta's ever? Evidently they fed one of the meanest mouths, too. Part of the Code Pink crowd's progeny. Ew, my eyes are still recovering. And just so you know, yes, sometimes bloggers get hate mail. Lovely. (We get love notes, too, so it all evens out.)

William F. Buckley built a road that I don't think conservative have been following for quite some time.

Crazy ants (not to be confused with my crazy aunts) are taking over Houston. I should be disturbed, but here's the disturbing part: if we get infested with them, they eat wires. No! Not that! They also eat fire ants, which is a good thing.

Is the world economy destabilizing? Yes. Are energy prices going to cause problems? Seems like they will.

Ann Althouse wants liberals to not speak their truth so people will take them seriously when it comes to Supreme Court Justices. Even if they don't say it, Ann, we know their judicial intentions. There's no hiding it.

Are conservatives out of ideas? Um, no. But the conservatives aren't running the Republican party right now. Neither are the libertarians. Right now, fat, happy, pseudo-dems are running the party and the only ideas they possess come from the Democrats. It's called liberalism lite and it sucks.

Getting Out Of Public Restrooms Clean Gets Easier--UPDATED

Longtime readers know of my germ phobic nature. I'm not totally anal, but after having a kid spend four months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, public germs freak me out. That's in contrast to private germs--the germs in our homes, our beds, bathrooms and kitchens--that our bodies have acclimated to and are used to fighting and help build our immune systems. Yes, I do believe in hand washing at home. And yes, dirty kitchens and bathrooms at home skive me out. But a hermetically sealed bubble boy life doesn't interest me.

That's in contrast to my love of fastidious, obsessive cleanliness in public places. I want restaurant kitchens, public bathrooms, etc. to be perfectly clean, because no matter how hard they try to keep it clean, there are still going to be germs. I try to not think about it. And one of my pet peeves is public bathroom design where a person can't get out of the bathroom without touching some germ-infested surface.

Yesterday, I received an email from the owner of a business that solves the problem of getting out of public bathrooms clean. Check it out:

No, I'm not getting paid to advertise this gizmo, although I told the owner that it would be nice. Actually, I just think it's high times something like this came along. So, if you own a business, buy these things. They look easy enough to install. I actually used one at a local restaurant the other day. What a thrilling experience to get out of the bathroom without having to touch anything. It doesn't take much.

Thanks Pilot Pal!

I shared with you people one of my favorite essays by David Sedaris called, "Thanks! Stadium Pal!" It's one of the funniest things I've ever read. One passage was particularly apropos to today's topic: How do jet fighter pilots pee in flight? The sad former answer was in their pants or some other equally humiliating answer. Hell, it's the same answer for marathon runners, so whatever. Some tasks require sacrifice. Flying a jet is worth wet pants, I guess.

The humiliation is over and there is a new urination technology for pilots:

The aerobatic maneuver is even harder for female pilots.

On long or cold-weather flights, the amount of gear and clothing made the maneuver nearly impossible, and pilots would sometimes have no choice but to relieve themselves in their flight suits.

In the AMXD, a cup for a man and a pad for a woman is strategically placed before the pilot dons a flight suit.

An instructional DVD tells pilots: "When the time comes to urinate, unzip the flight suit, remove the hose.... The control unit will pump the urine from the cup to the collection bag, where it will be chemically gelled." See how the system works »

Pilots are free to think about other business.

The Army and Navy look to use these elsewhere. But I have to wonder, why not just use the Stadium Pal? Truckers use them. And if the adhesive that Sedaris used and so viciously harmed his nether regions were replaced by something kinder and gentler, I would think it'd be a cheaper alternative. $2,000 bucks a pop seems excessive just to pee easily.

Stop It Already With The Antibacterial Soap

Tigerhawk has a smart sister and she says:

The active antibacterial agent in question is triclosan. The only real question that can result from numerous scientific studies about triclosan is whether or not its potential negatives are strong enough to stop using it. (Indeed, the only piece (opinion) questioning the validity of the research showing both potential resistance problems and toxic byproducts of triclosan (Swofford, 2005) was written by a member of the soap industry.) However, given unambiguous results showing that soap containing triclosan is indistinguishable in its effectiveness against bacteria as regular soap (and, frankly, given that most illnesses most household users of antibacterial soaps are concerned about are actually caused by viruses, which do not respond to antibacterials) any potentially negative side-effects of its use should be unacceptable.

Here is the problem. Humans are dumping all kinds of chemicals into our (and other organisms') water supply, that are not removed during sewage treatment (even when the water properly goes through sewage treatment). Among these is triclosan (Gomez et al., 2007), which has been found in large proportions of human urinary samples (Calafat et al., 2008). Not only do we know nothing about how ingesting all these various chemicals may be affecting us over the long term, we cannot begin to know the complex ways in which they are interacting with each other to create new, and potentially more toxic compounds. Both laboratory (DeLorenzo et al., 2008) and field research (Kinney et al., 2008) suggests that triclosan bioaccumulates, which means its concentration could increase up the food chain (the same phenomenon responsible for the crash of bald eagle populations a few decades ago, due to DDT). Other laboratory studies suggest that it reacts with light and chlorine (ubiquitous in our drinking water) to form types of dioxin, a toxic compound (Sanchez-Prado et al., 2006). These studies are just scratching the surface of potential interactions between triclosan and other ubiquitous pharmaceuticals such as painkillers and sex hormones from birth control. Laboratory studies have also demonstrated that bacteria such as E coli and Salmonella can become resistant to triclosan (Yazdankhah et al., 2006).
Use soap and water people. Wash your towels regularly. Wash your hands before prepping food. Wash your hands after bodily functions--including blowing your nose. People forget that one.

Quarantine sick people. Don't go to work when sick. Don't go to school. Don't beg for antibiotics. Don't use medications that are unnecessary. Rest. Hydrate. Stay warm. Let the fever do it's job.

Antibacterial soaps are stupid. Stop using them. Now.

Rights For Disabled People Via The UN

Wouldn't it be cool to be part of an organization with no responsibility or accountability but plenty of authority to make pronouncements and edicts from on high? It would be suweeet! Heck, maybe that's what it's like to be a "community organizer", but I digress. The UN has come up with a new treaty for the disabled (but doesn't go on to define disabled):

The CRPD guarantees disabled people:

  • The right to make their own decisions
  • The right to say No to being placed in an institution
  • The right to say No to medical or psychological treatment
  • The right to live in the community
  • The removal of barriers to participation in daily life
  • Equal opportunities for all
So, let's just take an example: mental retardation from Down's Syndrome. So a mentally retarded child has a right to life. Does that mean that they can't be aborted? Once alive, the child gets to make his own decisions. He can say no to institutionalization. He can say no to medical treatment. He can have "equal opportunities". What does that mean?

The United Nations produced one more empty "treaty" to address a problem for which there is no solution. Disabilities cover a broad spectrum. A person born with no arm is disabled, but of course should have all the rights and responsibilities of a fully functional person. All disabled people deserve to be treated with respect but some are in no position to make decisions about their own care.

Will this treaty stop female (just being a female is a disability in some cultures) infanticide in India and China? Will this treaty end the abuse (and really disabled births because relatives marry) of disabled children throughout the Islamic culture? No and no. Will it make bureaucrats feel better? Yep. Should the United States sign this treaty? Hell no.

Mumps Outbreak In Highly Immunized Population

Yep. I got mumps. My husband and his brothers got mumps and we were all immunized. Here's the study showing the biggest outbreak of mumps in recent American history and most of the people were immunized:

In a study reported in last week's New England Journal of Medicine, researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and several Midwestern state health departments examined the 6,584 cases in the Midwestern outbreak. They found that the incidence was four times higher among people 18 to 24 years old than in all other age groups combined. This was despite the fact that 84% of the mumps patients in that age group (and 63% of the patients overall) had received the recommended two doses of mumps vaccine.
Immunization does not confer 100% immunity. And the problem with this outbreak is that mumps is relatively harmless in children. Uncomfortable, yes. Miserable, yes. Deadly? No. But in young adults, it can cause sterilization and reproductive problems.

Shameless Plug and Organic Stuff

Just a quick note, here. Have you noticed that I have an advertiser right now? That big block with natural skin care products is paying me actual money to advertise here. How cool is that?

A reader asked if I had used their products. The answer is no, I have not. That being said, I will talk about buying organic, natural products for a minute. This is something that I try to do anyway--but organic. Even my dog gets organic food even and he deserves a swift kick in the ribs not the super excellent dog food. I'm still irritated over his apparent passive-aggression. This morning, the cute fluffy white cotton ball of a dog jumped up on our bed and peed in the middle of it. Not a little spot mind you. Oh no! He emptied his pint-sized bladder on the white comforter cover. And yes, he'd been let out already. And yes, he's now generally potty-trained. It was purposeful.

For those who believe that dogs and cats don't have free will, I'm here to tell you, you're wrong. My friend's big, fat, irritating cat pees and poops on her pillow whenever he's mad at her for not giving him enough attention. If she goes out of town, the pillow gets it. For some reason, she thinks it's funny. I, on the other hand, do not find any sort of pet excrement on my bed amusing.

So even this rage inducing canine gets organic food and I'm here to tell you he doesn't deserve it. But my kids do. Now, I'm not super mega anal about the organic thing, but I try, as much as possible to buy organic food. Certain things seem to make a huge difference when they're organic, taste wise. Chicken is the most dramatic. I don't know, nor do I want to know, what happens to regular chickens, but the difference with organic chicken is so obvious it's a tad disturbing. Other things like fruits and veggies make a difference when fresh and organic. There is even an organic vodka I like called Rain. Good stuff. Great packaging.

Anyway, I do think it is valuable, when at all possible, to buy organic. It is just one more way to minimize your intake of antibiotics and if the animals and ground are treated better, that's a bonus, too.

So, take a look at NaturOli's products and buy some, too! You'll be supporting me and you'll also be buying some products that are natural and plant based. They look really good. Also, if you would like to advertise here, let me know. You guys know you're smart and there's more of you reading this than I ever imagined would care about what I have to say, which actually calls into question the first assertion. Nah, I stick by it. You're smart.
